ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Officials say a $15 million upgrade at the Fine Arts Center at Northern State University is nearing completion.

The American News reports the remodeling project is slated to open next month.

Classes start on Aug. 22 across campus and school officials say the center will be open for classes on that day.

Construction began last year on the project that will add more than 18,000 square feet to the 48,000-square-foot center and give existing spaces updated looks and equipment.

Changes include new seating and acoustic improvements in the theater, lobby improvements, a new black box theatre and new office spaces in which faculty can also teach.
