10 River Gauges in South Dakota Near Flood Stage

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Heavy rain over the past couple of days will delay harvest across much of South Dakota and is pushing up the water level in rivers and streams.

KELO-TV reports the Big Sioux River is up 2 feet. And 10 river gauges in the state are near flood stage, including the James River at Huron.

Other waterways with flooding potential include the White and Cheyenne rivers in western South Dakota — much of it from melting snow.
